Meet Valerie Samson
Educated in business management and accounting, Valerie began studying holistic therapies in 1993. She is a Reiki Master and Teacher, Natural Health Consultant and since 2000, has been a Certified Classical Feng Shui Consultant. She is a founding member of the Feng Shui Association of Canada, (a national certifying body for professional Feng Shui consultants in Canada) and was President from 2004 to 2009. (Pronounced “Fung Shoi” – like ‘young boy’).
Valerie is a popular public speaker and teacher. She has been featured in many newspaper articles, magazines, and appears on various radio and television programs. Her contributions to publications such as 'Microsoft Home', 'Simcoe Life', 'Georgian College Alumni', 'Arabella Design' and 'Food & Home Magazine' allow Valerie to communicate her love of teaching and actively share in the public education of Classical Feng Shui. She was the resident expert for “Your New Home Canada” television, and has been featured on “Feng Shui Life TV” a program which interviews top Feng Shui consultants throughout the world and airs in many countries around the globe.
Valerie believes that giving back to the community and helping others achieve their highest potential is a vital component of a life well-lived. She is honored to have been a recipient of the “Ontario Humanitarian Award” from Enrich International, the “Distinguished Alumni Award” from the Board of Governors of Georgian College, and a nominee-recipient of the “Premiers Award of Excellence” from the Provincial Government of Ontario.
A successful business woman with over 23 years experience, Valerie has a large and varied clientele. She specializes in consultations for business of all sizes, renovations and new construction projects. Her clients include banks, large corporations, government, small businesses and homeowners.
Why "Feng Shui 911" ?
My husband gave me my first book on Feng Shui book for Christmas in 1998. What started as mere curiosity, soon became a hobby and I quickly discovered the results were just too compelling to ignore. I have spent many years studying various modalities which help people achieve their goals and enjoy a happy life. At one point in my career I decided to explore the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine and heard an astonishing comment from the instructor, "If you can't get the right Feng Shui in the house, you will never fix the people who live in it". From that moment on, I have been driven to discover how this subject affects our lives and the world each of us share. The experiences and results of my own testing as well as that shared with my friends, family and clients, has been quite varied and often downright impressive! As my studies deepened and my results became evident, word spread. I soon found myself receiving calls for 'emergency' Feng Shui and I would jokingly say that I was the ‘911’ of Feng Shui consultants hence, the company name was born.
It is a large jump from Canada Revenue Tax Auditor to Feng Shui Consultant. With my formal education, professional experience in the public sector, and over 23 years as a successful business owner, I believe I offer much to my clients. The clients I work with today are informed and proactive.They ask about the Feng Shui of a building as a normal part of the process before purchasing or building. Interior floor plans are analyzed to decide how to obtain positive benefits and use a space most effectively to meet the goals of the family, company, client or customer. Architects have begun to see the value of incorporating sound Feng Shui principles in good building design. Landscapers use basic Feng Shui concepts to create private gardens, improve health and finance or create a dramatic statement.
It is important to know that Feng Shui is a tool - not a "magic bullet." It provides us with information about our physical surroundings which help us harness the positive influences and features, while calming and reducing the negative ones. This will always require active participation on the part of the client. If you don't take a step, how can you expect to move forward? I believe in educating people about their own home or business space. If we can understand what is potentially possible for us and then make changes in how we participate in our space, the results are often more than anticipated.
An important part of applying this knowledge is to develop a relationship with my client. Sometimes the initial plans require adjustments. Following up with clients on the results obtained, allows me to help ensure the desired goals are being realized, as fully as is possible.
